Bishop (Dr.) Ransom Bello

Bishop (DR.) Ransom Bello was born into a royal family in Ondo State, Nigeria. He had his primary education at St. Luke's Primary School, Irun-Akoko in Ondo State. After four years delay he started his Secondary education in 1970 as a pioneer student of the Baptist High School, Ekinrin Ade, Kwara State Nigeria. He completed his secondary education at Ife Olu Grammar School Osogbo, Oyo State, Nigeria where he had one of the top best results in 1974.

Because of his excellent academic performance, he was employed as one the pioneer teachers in Irun/Ogbagi Grammar school, where he pioneered the first Student Christian fellowship in 1975. In the same year he authored his first Christian book and established his first church which marked the beginning of his pastoral journey.

He pioneered the first Student Christian union at the Ansar-U-Deen College, Isolo- Lagos, Nigeria, where he obtained his G.C.E 'A' level and his Higher School Certificate in 1977.

He proceeded to the University of Lagos where he was better known as a Pastor rather than the accounting student that he was. He was the President of the Lagos Varsity Christian Union. His unique life style and high level of integrity impacted on the Christian community at the University of Lagos where he met with Pastor W.F. Kumuyi, a Pastor of one of the largest churches in the world, who became his mentor. Dr. Ransom Bello while served under W.F. Kumuyi as the Kano State Overseer of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry for about 10 years. It was at this time that he raised and pastured what became the single largest church in Kano state and the whole of Northern Nigeria, with over 9,000 members.

He also planted 45 branches of the church in all the Local Government Areas ofKano state. He left the Deeper Christian Life Ministry in 1990 to pioneer a new work after he was duly released and blessed by his spiritual father with strong positive pronouncements and prayers.

Dr. Ransom. S. Bello is the founder and the Presiding Bishop of Calvary Life Assembly International Inc, a church with branches in Africa, Europe and America. He is also the President of Ransom World Outreach Ministries (RWOM). He is a distinguished Christian leader, a seasoned teacher and a prolific author. The gospel has taken him to many continents including America, Europe and Asia.

Dr. Ransom Bello is undoubtedly one of the most respected Bishops in Nigeria today especially in Pentecostal circles. His simplicity and humility has endeared him to various people irrespective of tribe and religion. He is a role model who has raised so many ministers who today occupy various leadership positions. Bishop Bello is a mentor and a father to so many ministers.

He is currently the National Vice President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) taking oversight of all the Pentecostal churches in North-West Nigeria (comprising Kano, Jigawa, Zarnfara, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Katsina States) and the state Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kano state.

Bishop Bello also functions in various leadership levels with several International Christian organizations such as the International Communion of Charismatic Churches, International Ministerial Council of Great Britain and United Council of Christian churches. He is listed in the Almanac of the Christian World (published in USA 1992 edition) as a Pastor of one of the fifty largest churches in the world. He is President, Global Leadership Fellowship network; networking ministers and church workers for effective training.

Recently Bishop Bello was appointed a friend of the Bayero University, Kano, Nigeria. He has received numerous awards including the National Christian Prestigious Award (NCPA) by Christendom Information Bureau of Nigeria, the Inter Community Relations Award by the Northern Minority Peoples Forum and the Merit Award from the Benue Peoples' Forum.

He is a great instrument of peace, unity and stability within the Christian community in Kano state. Because of his strong commitment to peace and stability and his great influence and acceptance within the Christian community, he was appointed as a Patron of the Center for Inter-Religion Co-existence in Kano state, with the Kano state Governor and the Emir of Kano Alhaji Ado Bayero as Grand patrons.

Bishop Bello finished his advanced diploma in chaplaincy and Pastoral study with distinction. He holds a Bachelor of Biblical studies degree. He obtained his Masters and Doctorate degrees in Theology from Slidell Baptist Seminary, Louisiana, USA. He is married to Rev. (Mrs.) Julie and they are blessed with five children.
